What is the Salesforce Identity and Access Management Architect certification?
Salesforce describes certified Identity and Access Management Architects as experts at assessing architecture environments and requirements in order to design sound, high-performing solutions on the Salesforce Platform that meet single sign-on requirements. In plain terms: you decide how users prove who they are, where that identity comes from, and what they can reach once they are in.
The credential’s current official name is Salesforce Certified Platform Identity and Access Management Architect. Salesforce’s exam guide, its Trailhead credential page and its certification overview all use the “Platform” name; the introduction of the exam guide still refers to the Salesforce Certified Identity and Access Management exam. Both names mean the same cert.
Salesforce has announced that it will retire 24 certifications on 1 February 2027. In the architect group, only the B2B Solution Architect and the B2C Commerce Architect carry that mark; this certification does not. As of 14 October 2026 it is active and bookable.

Who is the IAM Architect exam for?
The exam guide targets people with at least one year of experience designing and implementing identity and access management solutions and at least two years of identity or security technology experience.
It names six typical job roles: enterprise architect, technical architect, security architect, integration architect, identity architect and solution architect. The common thread is responsibility for authentication and authorisation across Salesforce and the systems around it, not day-to-day user administration.

How much does the Identity and Access Management Architect exam cost?
Registration costs US$400 or JPY¥60,000, plus applicable taxes as required by local law. A retake costs US$200 or JPY¥30,000, plus applicable taxes.
That is the standard price for Salesforce architect exams: Salesforce’s pricing page states that all architect exams cost USD 400 with a USD 200 retake, the Technical Architect evaluation excepted.

Identity and Access Management Architect exam format and passing score
The exam consists of 60 multiple-choice questions plus up to five unscored questions, and you get 120 minutes to complete it. The unscored items are not marked, so answer every question as if it counts.
The passing score is 65%. On 60 scored questions that means you need roughly 39 correct answers; the exam guide does not say how the score is rounded, so aim well above the line.
The exam is proctored, either onsite at a testing center or online. No hard-copy or online materials may be referenced during the exam. The questions align to the Summer ’23 release.

Identity and Access Management Architect exam outline
Salesforce splits the exam into six sections. The largest is accepting third-party identity in Salesforce at 21%. Salesforce acting as the identity provider is a separate 17% section, so the outline tests identity flowing into Salesforce and out of it.
Do not underestimate the community section. Community (Partner and Customer) carries 18%, more than access management best practices at 15% or Salesforce Identity at 12%.
- Identity Management Concepts — 17%
- Accepting Third-Party Identity in Salesforce — 21%
- Salesforce as an Identity Provider — 17%
- Access Management Best Practices — 15%
- Salesforce Identity — 12%
- Community (Partner and Customer) — 18%

Prerequisites and recommended experience
There is no formal prerequisite: you do not need another Salesforce certification to register.
The experience profile in the exam guide is the realistic bar: an architect exam asks you to choose between designs, which is hard to do from reading alone. Salesforce recommends combining hands-on experience with self-study and searching Salesforce Help for each outline topic.

Official study resources
Salesforce’s exam guide points to the Trailhead trailmix “Architect Journey: Identity and Access Management” as the primary learning resource, alongside Salesforce Help articles for each topic in the exam outline.
Use the six outline sections as your checklist. For every section, build the configuration in a Developer Edition org: set up an external identity provider, make Salesforce the identity provider for another app, configure login for partner and customer users. Seeing these flows work, and fail, is the best preparation for design questions.

Certification maintenance
To keep the certification, you complete the Salesforce Certified Platform Identity and Access Management Architect maintenance badge on Trailhead once a year. If you miss the due date, the certification expires.
Note the due date as soon as you pass and complete the badge early rather than in the last week.

Identity and Access Management Architect vs Sharing and Visibility Architect
Both are Salesforce Platform architect exams with 60 questions plus up to five unscored in 120 minutes and the same US$400 fee, but they cover the two halves of security. Identity and access management is about who gets in and how: SSO, identity providers and external users. Sharing and visibility is about what a user can see once inside: object and field permissions and record access.
The passing scores differ. The Sharing and Visibility Architect exam requires 58%, with access to records alone weighted at 39%; the Identity and Access Management Architect exam requires 65%.

Identity and Access Management Architect dumps and exam rules
Salesforce has a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct related to certification exams. Its Code of Conduct prohibits sharing, using or selling exam content in any format, including content you memorise, and names discussion groups, forums, chat rooms, unauthorised study sites and blogs as places where exam content must not be shared.
Using a question dump built from real exam content falls under that rule. Sanctions include revocation of earned certifications and suspension from taking any or all certification exams for 90 days or more.

Identity and Access Management Architect practice questions
Certsqill Identity and Access Management Architect practice questions are expert-developed for this exam. Every question comes with an explanation for every answer option, so you understand why one SSO design fits a scenario and the others do not.
A readiness score per domain tracks all six outline sections, so you can see whether third-party identity, Salesforce as an identity provider or community login still needs work before you book. Access comes with a 7-day money-back guarantee.
