Salesforce Sharing and Visibility Architect: exam, outline and why dumps are a risk
The Salesforce Certified Platform Sharing and Visibility Architect exam has 60 scored multiple-choice questions plus up to five unscored ones, a 120-minute limit and a 58% passing score. What is the Salesforce Sharing and Visibility Architect certification?
The Salesforce Certified Platform Sharing and Visibility Architect is an architect-track Salesforce certification. Salesforce describes the certified professional as someone who assesses the security and sharing requirements needed to design secure, scalable solutions on the Salesforce Platform.
It is not aimed at newcomers. Salesforce’s target candidate has 2–3 years of Salesforce experience, 4–5 years of experience implementing complex security models in Salesforce, and an understanding of the security methods and data policies that support handling sensitive data. Typical roles named in the exam guide are advanced administrator, technical or solution architect, and advanced business analyst.
The certification is current: Salesforce has announced that it will retire 24 certifications on 1 February 2027, and Platform Sharing and Visibility Architect is not among the certifications marked as retiring.

Sharing and Visibility Architect exam format
The exam has 60 multiple-choice questions plus up to five unscored questions that Salesforce uses to gather performance data. The exam guide does not say how to recognise them, so answer every question as if it counts. You have 120 minutes, which is two minutes per scored question — generous, but the questions are scenarios that take reading time.
It is a proctored exam, delivered onsite at a testing center or in an online environment. No hard-copy or online materials may be referenced during the exam. The exam guide states that questions align to the Winter ’23 release.

How much does the Sharing and Visibility Architect exam cost?
The registration fee is US$400 (JPY¥60,000), plus applicable taxes as required by local law. A retake costs US$200 (JPY¥30,000), plus applicable taxes.
Because each retake is charged, a realistic budget is the registration fee plus the possibility of one retake. Preparing properly against the exam outline is the cheapest way to keep it to one payment.

What score do you need to pass the Sharing and Visibility Architect exam?
The passing score is 58%. The up to five additional unscored questions are there to gather performance data and are not part of the 60 scored questions.
A 58% pass mark sounds low, but the questions are written for experienced architects and many have several plausible answers. Treat the pass mark as a floor, not a target, and aim to be comfortable across all four outline sections.

Sharing and Visibility Architect exam outline
Salesforce publishes four sections with fixed weightings. Access to records is the biggest at 39%: organisation-wide defaults, the role hierarchy, sharing rules, groups, teams, object relationships, programmatic sharing, sharing with external users and record access overrides. Expect most of the exam to be scenarios asking which combination of these meets a set of conditions.
Object and field permissions are 27%, including hiding data at the user-interface level, protecting sensitive data such as PCI, PII or HIPAA data, and programmatic solutions that enforce security settings. The implications of a security model choice — scalability, license limitations and testing the sharing model — are 18%, and access to data that is not standard or custom objects is 16%.
- Permissions to Standard Objects, Custom Objects, and Fields — 27%
- Access to Records — 39%
- Access to Other Data — 16%
- Implications of Security Model Choice — 18%

Sharing and Visibility Architect prerequisites
There is no prerequisite certification: the exam guide lists the prerequisite as none. You can register for this exam without holding Salesforce Administrator or any other credential first.
The real entry requirement is experience. The exam guide’s audience description assumes years of hands-on work with complex Salesforce security models, and the scenario questions reward that experience much more than memorised feature lists.

How do you maintain the Sharing and Visibility Architect certification?
Salesforce requires you to complete the certification maintenance badge for this certification on Trailhead once a year. If you do not complete all maintenance requirements by the due date, the certification expires.
Put the maintenance due date in your calendar when you pass. The obligation is yearly, so it recurs for as long as you want to hold the credential.

Are Sharing and Visibility Architect dumps allowed?
No. Salesforce’s Credentialing and Certification Program Agreement and Code of Conduct prohibits sharing, using or selling exam content in any format, including content someone has memorised, with anyone, in any way — and it names unauthorised study sites and blogs as channels. Salesforce describes its stance on exam misconduct as zero-tolerance.
The listed consequences include revocation of earned certifications, suspension from taking any or all certification exams for 90 days or more, and removal from Salesforce’s credentialing and certification programmes. Every candidate accepts the agreement at the start of each exam.
There is also a practical problem. This exam tests whether you can choose the right sharing mechanism for a scenario you have not seen; a list of memorised answers does not build that judgement, and it does not help you once you are designing a real org’s security model.

How to prepare for the Sharing and Visibility Architect exam
Start with the official exam guide: it is the only authoritative list of objectives and weightings. Work through the access-to-records objectives first, because they carry 39% of the exam, and build each mechanism — organisation-wide defaults, role hierarchy, sharing rules, teams, programmatic sharing — in a practice org until you can predict who sees what.
Then cover the permissions and other-data sections, and finish with the implications section: scalability, license limitations and testing the sharing model are where architect-level judgement is tested most directly. Practice with scenario questions that explain why each wrong option is wrong, not just which option is right.
