What is the ServiceNow CIS-CSM certification?
CIS-CSM stands for Certified Implementation Specialist – Customer Service Management. It is ServiceNow’s implementation credential for the CSM application, the product companies use to run customer service on the Now Platform. Where the Certified System Administrator credential covers the platform in general, CIS-CSM certifies that you can implement one specific product.
ServiceNow University describes the exam as covering the configuration, implementation and maintenance of the CSM application. Passing the proctored exam awards the CIS-CSM certification and a Credly digital badge you can share.

What is on the CIS-CSM exam?
ServiceNow names four areas on the certification page. Treat them as the outline of a real implementation: the data foundation, how work reaches the right agent, what happens to a case over its life, and how agents, customers and managers see it.

CIS-CSM exam blueprint
The detailed scope is in the CIS-CSM Mainline Exam Blueprint on ServiceNow University. That is the document to use for question count, timing, domain weighting and any experience recommendations; ServiceNow does not repeat these on the certification page, and we only state what we could confirm on ServiceNow’s own pages.
Be careful with older blueprints. Earlier CIS-CSM blueprints written for past ServiceNow releases still circulate, and their numbers and domains do not necessarily match the current exam. Use the version on ServiceNow University and check its release name.

How much does the CIS-CSM exam cost?
The certification page does not print an exam fee. ServiceNow keeps pricing in a ServiceNow University article titled “Cost of Mainline certification exams”, and the binding amount appears when you register.
Whatever the fee, budget for the training as well. For CIS-CSM, ServiceNow University bundles the route into a learning path, and that path is where most of the preparation time goes.

CIS-CSM prerequisites and required training
ServiceNow University offers a learning path called Customer Service Management (CSM) Implementer with CSM Professional Plus Suite. ServiceNow describes it as providing all required training and exams to become a certified CSM Implementation Specialist, so plan the path before you plan the exam date.

How to pass the CIS-CSM exam
Implementation exams reward people who have built the thing. Work through the four areas on an instance you can configure freely: build out the data model records, set up routing and watch a case land, take a case through its full process, then look at the same case in the agent workspace, the customer portal and a report.
Then go back to the blueprint and check every listed objective against what you actually configured. Objectives you have only read about are where marks are lost.
Finally, test yourself under timed conditions. Knowing where a setting lives is different from recognising the right answer quickly when four plausible options are on screen.

CIS-CSM dumps
Collections of supposed CIS-CSM exam questions are not a reliable way to prepare. They tend to lag behind the current release, carry wrong answers, and skip the reasoning you need when the exam frames a familiar setting in a new scenario.
The exam is proctored and built around implementation scenarios. Spend the time on the blueprint, the learning path and hands-on configuration instead.

Keeping the CIS-CSM certification current
ServiceNow runs a Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) for its certifications, documented in a CMP FAQ on ServiceNow University. The program includes a certification maintenance fee, which ServiceNow lets you pay with Learning Credits or by credit card.
Check the CMP FAQ for the current amount, deadlines and maintenance steps. A certification that is not maintained is not current, so put the maintenance window in your calendar as soon as you pass.

CIS-CSM vs CIS-ITSM
Both are Certified Implementation Specialist credentials, but for different products. CIS-ITSM covers IT Service Management, the product for internal IT service. CIS-CSM covers Customer Service Management — cases from customers and the routing, workspaces and portals around them.
Pick the one that matches the implementations you work on. Consultants on customer-facing service projects get more out of CIS-CSM; those running internal service desks will find CIS-ITSM closer to their work.
