Why you can trust these TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation questions
What is the TOGAF certification?
TOGAF certification is The Open Group’s certification programme for enterprise architects, built on the TOGAF Standard. For the TOGAF Standard, 10th Edition, the two core certifications are TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation and TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner.
Foundation is for people who need a basic understanding of the method: The Open Group lists the concepts of enterprise architecture and the TOGAF Standard, its key terminology, and the Architecture Development Method (ADM) cycle with the objectives of each phase. Practitioner is aimed at the person tasked to develop, maintain and use enterprise architecture, and adds Levels 3 and 4 of the syllabus — application and analysis — to the levels Foundation covers.
One naming point that confuses many searches: there is no “TOGAF 10 Foundation” and no “TOGAF 10 Certified”. The Open Group made an explicit decision to decouple the name of the certification from the version of the standard, so the 10th Edition certifications carry the “Enterprise Architecture” names instead.

How much does TOGAF certification cost?
The Open Group publishes a retail fee schedule, effective 1 February 2026, priced in USD. Booking directly with Pearson by credit card costs USD 405 for Part 1 (OGEA-101), USD 405 for Part 2 (OGEA-102), and USD 610 for the combined Part 1 and Part 2 exam (OGEA-103).
So the full Practitioner route costs USD 810 as two separate exams, or USD 610 as the combined exam. Retail vouchers from The Open Group Shop are listed slightly higher — USD 435 per part and USD 640 combined — and the schedule notes that additional taxes may apply in some countries and that exams may be priced according to local currency values.
For accredited training, The Open Group states that the course fee includes the exam, so the exam fee is not paid twice. Course prices themselves are not on The Open Group’s fee schedule.

What is the TOGAF exam format?
Part 1 (OGEA-101) is 40 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes, closed book. Part 2 (OGEA-102) is 8 scenario-based, complex multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, and it is open book: an electronic copy of the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Body of Knowledge is built into the exam.
You can take the two parts separately or as the combined OGEA-103: 48 questions in 150 minutes total, 60 minutes for Part 1 and 90 for Part 2, with the Body of Knowledge available only in the second section. Both parts must be passed.
Exams are supervised and delivered through Pearson VUE — online from home or office with OnVUE, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Part 1 and Part 2 are offered in English, French and Simplified Chinese. After a failed attempt, The Open Group does not allow a retake of any TOGAF exam for one month.

TOGAF passing score
Both parts require 60%. In Part 1 that is 24 of 40 questions. In Part 2 it is 24 of 40 points — and the points work differently from a normal multiple-choice test.
Each Part 2 scenario has a graded answer key: the best answer scores 5 points, the second-best 3, the third-best 1, and an incorrect answer 0. With 8 questions worth up to 5 points each, you can reach the pass mark without picking the single best answer every time — but a few distractor choices sink the result quickly. Preparation for Part 2 is therefore about judging which option best fits the scenario, not spotting the one correct statement.

What is on the TOGAF exam?
The Open Group publishes the Part 1 exam plan with a question count per topic area. The ADM alone carries 14 of the 40 questions:
For Part 2, the exam plan lists the Level 2 syllabus areas — the context for enterprise architecture, stakeholder management, Phase A, architecture development (Phases B, C, D), implementing the architecture (Phases E, F, G), architecture change management (Phase H), requirements management, and supporting the ADM work — without a count per area, and notes that one scenario may combine several areas.
- Concepts — 8 questions
- Introduction to the ADM — 14 questions
- Introduction to the ADM Techniques — 6 questions
- Introduction to Applying the ADM — 4 questions
- Introduction to Architecture Governance — 3 questions
- Architecture Content — 5 questions

TOGAF certification prerequisites
There is no prerequisite for Foundation. The Open Group states that certification is open to all applicants, with no requirement for any previous certification; prior enterprise architecture knowledge helps but is not mandatory.
For Practitioner, the requirement is Foundation. Part 2 can be taken by holders of TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation, or by candidates who pass Part 1 on the same day at the same test centre. The combined OGEA-103 has no prerequisite, since it contains both parts.
Holders of TOGAF 9 Certified have a separate route: the Enterprise Architecture Bridge exam (OGEA-10B), described below.
Source: The Open Group — TOGAF Examinations datasheet. Checked 8 October 2026.
Does TOGAF certification expire?
No. The Open Group states that the duration of TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation certification is indefinite, and that Practitioner does not expire either: there are no re-certification or renewal requirements.
The certification is tied to the version of the Body of Knowledge it was earned against. Older certificates are not cancelled by a newer standard: The Open Group states that TOGAF 9 Foundation and TOGAF 9 Certified do not expire either, so the 10th Edition adds a new path rather than replacing the old credential.

TOGAF study materials and training
The Open Group defines the scope through its Bodies of Knowledge for certification based on the TOGAF Standard, 10th Edition. The same Body of Knowledge is the document built into the Part 2 exam, so knowing your way around it is part of the preparation.
You can prepare by self-study or by attending a training course. The Open Group names two official sources of practice tests — The Open Group Shop and Accredited Training Courses — and warns against unauthorised third-party practice tests.
Accredited courses also include mandatory Learning Studies. Candidates who complete them, including a minimum of 10 practical exercises, and pass the relevant exam can earn the Applied TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner badge.

TOGAF 10 vs TOGAF 9 certification
TOGAF 9 Foundation and TOGAF 9 Certified are the certifications based on TOGAF 9.2. They do not expire, and The Open Group says it will continue to support the TOGAF 9 learning paths indefinitely; the TOGAF 9 exams remain on its exam datasheet and fee schedule.
For TOGAF 9 Certified holders who want the 10th Edition credential, there is the Bridge exam OGEA-10B: 10 simple and 4 scenario-based questions in 60 minutes, 60% (18 of 30 points) to pass, USD 385 when booked directly. The Open Group states that there is no set date for withdrawing the bridging path and that it will give 18 months’ notice before doing so.

TOGAF practice questions
Certsqill’s TOGAF practice questions are expert-developed: every question carries an explanation for every option, weighted to The Open Group’s Part 1 exam plan — with the ADM’s 14 of 40 questions at the centre — and Part 2 scenarios are explained the way they are scored: why one answer is best, why another is only second- or third-best.

How to get TOGAF certified, step by step
How to get TOGAF certification, in The Open Group’s own sequence: decide which level you want, prepare by self-study or an accredited course, pass the exam or exams, and then accept the trademark licence agreement The Open Group invites you to sign. The steps below fill in the detail.
- Choose the level: TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation, or Practitioner (which builds on Foundation).
- Prepare: self-study with The Open Group’s materials, or an Accredited Training Course, which includes the exam voucher.
- Book the TOGAF exams through Pearson VUE — at a test center or online with OnVUE — unless your course includes them.
- Pass: 60% on each part. After a failed attempt you must wait one month before taking any TOGAF exam again.
- Complete the credential: sign the trademark licence agreement and accept your digital badge.

The TOGAF certification path
The TOGAF certification path for the 10th Edition runs Foundation, then Practitioner. You can take Part 1 and Part 2 separately, take the combined exam, or — if you already hold Foundation — take Part 2 alone. Holders of TOGAF 9 Certified go straight to Practitioner through the Bridge exam.
Around that core, The Open Group lists further credentials: TOGAF Business Architecture Foundation for business architecture techniques, TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Leader as a learning-path credential for continuing development in smaller steps, and the Applied Practitioner badge for Practitioners who complete the Learning Studies on an accredited course.

The TOGAF foundation exam and TOGAF foundation certification
For most people the first TOGAF test is the TOGAF foundation exam, Part 1 (OGEA-101). Passing it earns the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation certification — the 10th Edition name for what searches still call the TOGAF foundation certification.
Holders of the older TOGAF 9 Foundation certification keep it: The Open Group states that TOGAF 9 Foundation and TOGAF 9 Certified do not expire, and the TOGAF 9 paths remain supported. Searches for the TOGAF 9 Foundation certification therefore point to a credential that is still valid, but for a new candidate the 10th Edition Foundation is the current starting point.

Is there a TOGAF architect certification?
Not under that name. The TOGAF architecture certification portfolio certifies knowledge of the TOGAF Standard — Foundation for the concepts and method, Practitioner for applying it. The Open Group describes the Practitioner as the person tasked to develop, maintain and use enterprise architecture, but neither certification is called “TOGAF certified enterprise architect” or “TOGAF certified architect”.
So when job adverts ask for a TOGAF enterprise architect certification, they almost always mean TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner, sometimes Foundation. Read the advert carefully: a TOGAF Enterprise Architecture certification shows you know the method, not that you hold an architect title.

Enterprise architecture certification: TOGAF or Open CA?
If you want an enterprise architecture certification, TOGAF is the knowledge-based option. The Open Group also runs a different kind of enterprise architect certification: TOGAF tests what you know by exam, while Open Certified Architect (Open CA) assesses skills and experience against conformance requirements through written applications, peer interviews and a board review, with no training courses or written exams.
Open CA has four specialisations — business, digital, enterprise and solution — at Certified, Master Certified and Distinguished levels. The Open CA page does not list TOGAF certification among its requirements. The two answer different questions: TOGAF, “does this person know the method?”; Open CA, “has this person done the job?”.

Your TOGAF certificate and certification badge
After The Open Group receives your exam result, you are invited to opt in to its badge programme if you have not already done so. Your TOGAF certification badge is then delivered through Credly, and your TOGAF certificate is available as a PDF download from your Credly badge page. You need a Credly account to hold the badge.
The TOGAF cert does not expire, so there is no renewal to track. The certification stays tied to the version of the Body of Knowledge you earned it against.

A TOGAF example: the ADM applied to a change
Searches for a TOGAF example usually want to see the method at work. Here is an illustrative TOGAF framework example of our own — not taken from The Open Group — following the Architecture Development Method for a company moving its customer systems to the cloud.
The point of any TOGAF architecture example is the sequence: vision before design, design before planning, and governance throughout. Part 2 of the exam asks exactly this kind of question — given a situation, which step and which concern come next.
- Phase A, Architecture Vision: define the scope, identify the stakeholders (sales, finance, IT operations, security), create the vision, and obtain approval.
- Phases B, C and D, architecture development: describe the target business, data, application and technology architectures, and the gap to today.
- Phases E, F and G, implementing the architecture: group the work into projects, plan the migration in stages, and govern the implementation against the agreed architecture.
- Phase H, architecture change management: handle changes once the new systems run, such as a new regulation on where customer data may be stored.
- Requirements management, throughout: route every changed requirement through governance rather than straight into a project.

TOGAF practice tests and mock exams
The Open Group names two official sources of a TOGAF practice test: The Open Group Shop and Accredited Training Courses. For the 10th Edition it sells practice tests for Part 1, Part 2, the Practitioner Bridge and Business Architecture Foundation. A TOGAF mock exam from these sources is the practice material The Open Group itself stands behind — which matters for Part 2, where the graded 5-3-1-0 scoring is hard to imitate.
The Open Group warns against unauthorised third-party practice exams. A TOGAF mock test from an unknown source may be built on the TOGAF 9 exams, and you cannot tell whether its answers are right. The same goes for “dump” files sold as real exam questions: they are not a reliable way to prepare, because there is no way to know whether they are accurate.
Certsqill offers expert-developed TOGAF practice exams with an explanation for every answer option and a readiness score per exam domain, with a 7-day money-back guarantee.

TOGAF bootcamp, and is TOGAF worth it?
A TOGAF bootcamp is usually an intensive course covering Foundation and Practitioner together, often ending in the combined exam. If you consider one, check The Open Group’s accreditation register and whether exam vouchers and Learning Studies are included — those are what distinguish an accredited course.
Is TOGAF worth it? The Open Group publishes no salary data, so we quote none. On the cost side, the facts are fixed: USD 610 for the combined exam booked directly, no renewal fee, and a certification that does not expire. Whether that pays off depends on whether your organisation uses TOGAF as its architecture method.
