Why you can trust these ITIL 4 Foundation questions
What is ITIL certification?
ITIL stands for the Information Technology Infrastructure Library, and the Foundation level is the entry certificate for IT service management — the vocabulary and the practices for running IT as a service rather than as a set of boxes.
In hiring terms, what ITIL certification means is narrow and useful: it says you speak the same process language as the service desk, change management and the people writing the SLAs.
PeopleCert examines it. There are no prerequisites stated on the certification page.

How much does ITIL certification cost?
Cost is the most-searched thing about ITIL by a wide margin.
PeopleCert sells it in bundles rather than as one flat exam fee. On 10 October 2026 its own shop showed US$690.00 including VAT for the exam bundle, US$1,029.00 for the eLearning bundle and US$1,338.00 for eLearning with a mock exam. Prices vary by currency and region, so treat those as the figures PeopleCert showed on that day rather than a universal price.
Prices for ITIL v3 still turn up in search. That is an earlier scheme; what you can book today is ITIL 4 or the newer Version 5.

ITIL 4 or ITIL v5 — which exam are you sitting?
PeopleCert lists both. ITIL 4 Foundation is the established one and the version this site’s question bank is written against. ITIL Foundation (Version 5) appears alongside it with the same exam shape: 40 questions, 60 minutes, 65% to pass.
PeopleCert’s ITIL FAQ says the two “will run in parallel for a period”, and that “the current plan is to sunset all ITIL 4 modules on 31 December 2027”, checked 10 October 2026.
The practical question before you buy study material is which of the two you are booking. Check the version on the exam you register for, not the one on the book cover.

What is the ITIL Foundation exam format?
Forty questions in sixty minutes, closed book, with a minimum required score of 65% — that is 26 of 40. PeopleCert publishes all four numbers, which is more than most issuers in this catalogue do.
How hard is it? PeopleCert publishes no pass rate, so nobody can put a number on it. What the format tells you is 90 seconds per question on definitional material, which rewards recognition over reasoning.
How long does it take to get certified? The exam is an hour, and there are no prerequisites to clear first, so the only variable is study time — and PeopleCert sets no figure for that.
How long does the certification last? PeopleCert’s ITIL 4 Foundation page states certification renewal every 3 years, with 60 CPD points needed for renewal, checked 10 October 2026. What does move is the scheme itself: PeopleCert plans to sunset all ITIL 4 modules on 31 December 2027 — see the version section above.

Where can you find ITIL practice questions?
This site holds 1,600 ITIL 4 Foundation practice questions. Every question shows all options, which one is correct, and why each of the others is wrong — on a definitional exam, the wrong answers are usually the neighbouring practice that sounds like the right one.
PeopleCert sells its own official mock exam as part of its bundles; this is a separate bank.
Because the pass mark is a straight 65%, practice percentages here map more directly onto the exam than on scaled-score exams — but they still measure this bank, not PeopleCert’s.
What ITIL study material and books do you need?
ITIL certification courses and the official publication come through PeopleCert and its accredited training organisations, and the eLearning bundles above include them. For books and other study material, check which version they cover before buying, for the reason in the section above.
There are no ITIL certification requirements or prerequisites to clear first — PeopleCert states none on the Foundation page. Training is sold with the exam, not demanded before it.

Is ITIL certification worth it?
PeopleCert publishes no salary data and no pass rate, so this page states neither.
What is verifiable is the trade: 40 questions, 60 minutes, 65% to pass, no prerequisites, a price that starts around US$690 including VAT for the exam bundle and rises to US$1,029 or US$1,338 once training is included, and renewal every 3 years. It is a vocabulary certificate for service management — valuable where the organisation already runs on ITIL terms, and thin where it does not.

How to renew ITIL 4 Foundation
As of 9 October 2026, PeopleCert’s ITIL 4 Foundation page lists certification renewal every 3 years, with 60 CPD points needed to renew. PeopleCert describes its PeopleCert Plus membership as “the simplest way to keep your certification(s) current”.
There is a second route: PeopleCert says you can also keep your certifications current by enrolling in a different course from the same Product Suite. If you are planning to move on to a higher ITIL level anyway, check whether that next step renews your Foundation credential before you spend on CPD activities separately.

What the exam voucher covers
Every bundle PeopleCert sells for ITIL 4 Foundation — the exam bundle, eLearning and eLearning+ — lists an exam voucher as its first item, so the exam is included whichever bundle you choose. After buying, you can pick an exam time slot straight away or skip that step and schedule later.
Rescheduling is free up to 48 hours before the exam starts. After that, PeopleCert charges a fee — USD 60, EUR 70 or GBP 60 depending on your country and currency, plus tax where applicable. If you are not sure of your date, book with enough margin to move it without paying.
PeopleCert also offers a re-sit option it calls Take2. Before you buy, check on PeopleCert’s page whether the bundle you choose includes a re-take, since that is the main difference between otherwise similar offers.

Choosing an ITIL bootcamp or classroom course
You do not need a course to sit ITIL 4 Foundation — PeopleCert states no prerequisites, and the exam bundle is built for self-study with the official eBook. If you prefer an instructor, PeopleCert points you to its Accredited Training Organisations (ATOs) and a “Find a local partner” search.
Before you book an ITIL bootcamp, check four things: that the provider is a PeopleCert ATO, that the price includes the exam voucher, which version the course teaches — ITIL 4 or ITIL Foundation (Version 5) — and whether the official material is included. A short intensive course works best when you arrive having already read the core concepts.

Exam languages
PeopleCert offers the ITIL 4 Foundation exam in 12 languages: English, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish and Thai. If English is not your first language, it is worth checking whether your own language is on the list before you study the terminology in English only.

Practising against the syllabus
Certsqill’s expert-developed ITIL 4 Foundation practice questions explain every answer option — on a definitional exam, the wrong options are usually a neighbouring concept that sounds right. Your readiness score is broken down per domain, so you can see which parts of the syllabus still need work. Every plan carries a 7-day money-back guarantee.
