How much does PMP certification cost?
PMI does not publish one PMP exam price. Its PMP Handbook says the fees “are subject to membership and regional pricing”, and you see the binding figure only once your application is accepted. What you can plan for is the full list of costs: the exam fee, the 35 hours of required training, any retakes, and renewal every three years.

How much is the PMP certification test?
PMI does not state a figure. Its PMP Handbook says that “the fees for obtaining the PMP Certification are subject to membership and regional pricing”, and its Certification Handbook adds that prices “may vary based on a candidate’s membership status and regional location”. Neither handbook names an amount, and neither do the PMP certification page or PMI’s July 2026 exam update.
So how much does the PMP exam cost you? It depends on two things PMI names: whether you are a PMI member, and where you are. According to PMI’s PMP page, “once your application is accepted, you’ll pay your exam fee and schedule your exam” — that is when the PMI PMP exam price becomes a concrete figure. The PMI PMP exam fee is paid to PMI directly, not through a training provider.
Membership is not required. The handbook says so in capitals: “Membership is NOT required to obtain the PMP.” Because PMI prices the exam by membership status, the PMP exam fee for members can differ from the non-member fee, so compare both in your application before you decide whether joining is worth it.

Why other sites quote a flat PMP certification price
Many sites quote a single PMP certification price, often labelled with a year — “PMP exam cost 2025” or “PMP exam cost 2026”. PMI’s own documents describe the fee only in terms of membership and regional pricing, so one number for everyone is not something PMI commits to.

PMP certification cost: USA and other regions
Regional pricing applies in the US as well. PMI publishes no list of PMP exam fees in USD on its PMP page or in its handbooks, so a figure presented as the PMP certification cost in USA comes from somewhere other than PMI. US candidates see their fee at the same point as everyone else: after the application is accepted.
For the same reason, comparing PMP exam fees in USA and other regions is not possible from PMI’s published documents. The only dollar amount the PMP Handbook gives is unrelated to the exam itself: $45 USD for a hand rescore of a result.

How much to get PMP certification: every cost item
The PMI PMP certification cost is more than the exam. Plan the full PMP cost: certification fee, training, possible retakes and renewal, in the order you meet them:
- Training: 35 hours of project management education are an entry requirement. The course price is set by whoever delivers it; there is no single PMI training price. An active CAPM certification also satisfies the requirement.
- Exam fee for PMP certification: paid to PMI after your application is accepted, subject to membership and regional pricing.
- Retakes, if needed: you may take the exam up to three times in your one-year eligibility period, and fees are paid again for the second and third attempts.
- Optional preparation: practice exams and study material you choose to buy.
- Renewal: 60 PDUs every three years, plus a renewal fee for which PMI publishes no figure.

PMP certification training cost
The 35 training hours are where costs differ most between candidates. A PMP boot camp cost, a self-paced PMP certification course cost and the PMP certification online cost of a video course are all set by the provider, and they vary widely.
What PMI does set is which training counts. From 1 December 2026, live classes — taught by an instructor in person or online — count only if they are delivered by a PMI Authorized Training Partner, a China Registered Education Provider, or an eligible accredited higher education programme. Before you pay for a live course, check that the provider is one of those and that the course really delivers 35 hours. Cheap PMP training is only a saving if it counts.

How much does it cost to retake the PMP exam?
PMI allows up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period that starts when your application is approved. The Certification Handbook states that “repayment of fees applies to the second and third attempts to pass the exam.”
PMI calls a retake a re-examination, and the PMP Handbook says it is offered “for a substantial discount subject to membership and regional pricing”. So the PMP re-examination fee is lower than the first fee, but PMI publishes no figure for it.

Is there a PMP exam discount code or voucher?
PMI’s PMP page and handbooks describe no PMP exam voucher scheme and no public discount code. The only PMP exam fee discount PMI documents is the reduced price for retakes; beyond that, the fee varies by membership and region.
Codes advertised elsewhere as a PMP certification discount — including old ones such as a “PMP voucher code 2023” — are not something PMI documents. If you use one, check the final amount on PMI’s own payment screen.

The cheapest way to get PMP certification
There is only one PMP, issued by PMI, so the cheapest PMP certification is simply the cheapest route to that one credential. The levers PMI documents:
- Membership status — PMI prices the exam by membership and region, so compare the member fee plus the cost of membership with the non-member fee.
- Training route — an active CAPM satisfies the 35-hour requirement; otherwise compare eligible courses on price and on whether they meet PMI’s rules.
- Passing first time — a retake means paying again, even at a discount.

PMP certification time and cost
Money is only half the cost. Before you can apply, PMI requires three years of experience managing projects with a bachelor’s degree, four with an associate degree or vocational diploma, five with a high school diploma, or two with a degree from a PMI Global Accreditation Center programme — plus the 35 training hours.
The exam itself, as updated in July 2026, is 180 questions in 240 minutes, with two 10-minute breaks. Once you are approved you have one year to pass it.
